Fishery Rules To Be Followed


Here at Townsend Lakes we have rules but they are all there for a good reason 1)1) EVERY angler must have their OWN landing net (no sharing) as all fish must be netted we do hire nets for £1 if you don't have one on the cuckoo canal fishery own landing nets must be used 2) EVERY angler must have a disgorger (not forceps) – As forceps are no good for taking a deep hook out of A small fish. 3) No keep nets (except for matches) fishery keep nets only for all matches 4) ALL landing nets MUST be dipped in the tank provided before and after fishing - This is very important 5) Barbless hooks only (no micro or pinched barbed) 6) The maximum hook sizes are - The Kingfisher lake size 8 the Woodpecker Pool, Cuckoo Canal & Kestrel size 14. 7) NEVER leave rods or poles unattended whilst in the water even if your rod is on a bait runner if you get off your peg bring Your line out of the water. 8) No braid even on a hook length. 9) No nuts or imitation baits (plastic baits) 10) No trout pellets ( carp pellets are fine ) 11) Bread only allowed on the Kingfisher Lake not allowed on any other lake . 12) DO NOT swap lakes under any circumstances. 13) NO LITTER THIS INCLUDES FAG ENDS AND FISHING LINE 14) There must be a minimum of 12" between pole or rod tip and float. 15) All lines must have either a float,feeder or bomb attachted - No floating pole - 16) No maggot rings 17) Do not handle any fish with a cloth even if it is wet. best way to handle fish e.g tench is by using the landing net. 18) Please handle all fish with care. Hold fish low to the ground for photos so they don't drop on the floor and place back into the water with care do not throw fish back. 19) If fishing for carp a unhooking mat is required this is also to be dipped in the dip tank. 20) All unsupervised juniors must stay on their peg and not run around or shout accross to each other. 21) If you don't understand any rule do not just ignore it please ask. 22) please make sure you know which lake you are on so you know which rules apply.
